Chart Symbols: what the Part 107 test expects

The FAA Aeronautical Chart Users' Guide is the official key to sectional-chart symbols. Airports with control towers are blue, and all others are magenta. Each airport has a data block with its name, tower (CT) and CTAF/UNICOM frequencies, airport elevation in feet MSL, lighting, and longest runway length to the nearest 100 ft. A star after the tower frequency means the tower is part-time.

Airspace symbols carry numbers too. A Class D ceiling sits in a dashed box, and Class B and C sectors use ceiling-over-floor labels. Chart questions on the Part 107 test often combine a symbol with a rule, so practice reading the symbol first and then applying §107.41 or §107.51.
